Dr. Scott White grew up in the West Texas town of Odessa amid pumpjacks, sagebrush, horses, and cowboys. He attended Odessa High School then started on an accounting degree at Odessa College until deciding the world was too big to look at through a set of books. His parents introduced him to art when they owned a frame shop and art supply business. He was surrounded by the art of the West there. He pursued interests in music, art, and history while working as a construction contractor. After acquiring an AA, a BA, an MA, and a PhD, he combined all his interests in pursuing museum work. Now retired, he lives in Lubbock, Texas.
